Spaces and places to see permanent collections and temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art in the West Midlands

A wide range of established museums, galleries, visual arts organisations, festivals and projects which house both permanent art collections and present temporary exhibitions of contemporary art are located across the West Midlands.  Modern and contemporary collections of significance include the Pop Art collection at Wolverhampton Art Gallery and the Art Fund International collection recently acquired jointly by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and The New Art Gallery, Walsall.

Galleries showcasing contemporary art in the region include Ikon Gallery, The New Art Gallery, Walsall, MAC Birmingham and The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry and Eastside Projects.  There are a significant number of artist-run spaces here including Grand Union, A3 Project Space, Birmingham and Airspace, Stoke-on-Trent as well as university-based galleries such as Article Gallery (BCU) and LGP, Coventry University.
